I made this for a future album I'm writing... I'm a graphic design noob with no educational experience. Advice? Critiques? Tips?

Is glitch art and minimalism the future ?

Why.
For some reason it reminds me in the logo of a bank or a hard ware store. That is one of those silly changes for the sake of change, one that is not needed or desired.

So I'm a student and I am in a Web Design 2 class, so this is fairly simple stuff, but I'm stumped. Any help with this Javascript would be amazeballs.
I am trying to make a simple picture gallery found at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/14299917/making-a-simple-javascript-image-gallery
I've placed the <script> part in the <body> of my html document, and then place the "false return" listed on the website under it.
I've looked at this forward and backwards, and I cant figure out why this isn't working for me. I am ok with HTML and CSS but this Javascript has been a nightmare. I've searched through the nets, and I think I've tried everything. (Putting the stuff in the <head>, switching it around.)
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and if you guys have any other pointers or any other resources (other that what I've found on Google), please. Anything.

How does one achieve this 'glitchy' or 'tv' style? Saw stuff like this and was always curious
