Hello /tv/. Some of you are undoubtedly heavy into piracy and might know what direction to point me in.

There is a recent film in my possession that I will not name (because of how sensitive it is to do so) in DVD format. Don't even ask. Seriously. Just don't.

Say I wanted to leak it online without getting caught. Who would be the right people to get in contact with to help me leak it?

Pick any of them, encoding is pretty easy these days, that list of 6 release groups I wrote down earlier where all releasing new movies this year, just contact any of them, and if they're not interested they can probably direct you to a group that is.

OP here.

Just updating you guys on this in case you are curious what happened.

I am in contact with a release group that works with private trackers. They asked me for proof of what I had and I took pictures with a written timestamp of the disc in and out of the box. I dumped them into some special submission link they had and they will get back to me. I'm just waiting in a secured IRC room for them to get back to me once the staff takes a look.

You guys didn't really help except for that one guy who pointed me in the direction of the nfo files and this group seems pretty legit and well-known.

I'm not sure why some of you idiots decided to ask me what the movie was even though I said not to ask but I figured as much considering that /tv/ is full of NEETs who have zero reading comprehension and anxiety disorders which is why you will never leave your parent's homes.

As for the rest of you: keep an eye out for the leak. No telling how long this will take, but I'm sure it will make its way to public trackers due to the demand for it.

I'm all for piracy but the idea expressed in your pic has always bothered me. You're not stealing the media, you're refusing to pay the money the media is worth.

Paying for a movie works like this:
Movie is worth $20 so you pay that much and in exchange you get the movie. This works because the person selling the movie gets money equal to how much he/she thinks its worth and is eventually able to pay off the cost of making the movie. The buyer loses $20 but has the movie, or in the case of buying theater tickets, the experience, which is worth the same amount.

If you pirate a movie there is a person who benefits (you) by seeing the movie without paying its worth, and a person who isn't compensated for the making of the movie.

Does that make sense or did I lose the message I was going for?

I'd say that it's pretty unlikely that you get in contact with a group that knows how to handle a screener copy properly. Screeners are watermarked to hell and back and the source of the screener will be identified as soon as that shit hits the internet. Both video and audio is watermarked in a way that we do not notice when watching it.
